About

My name is Josh Biddix and I am running for Cleveland County Commissioner in the 2026 election. Public service has been a central part of my adult life—whether through the United States Marine Corps, law enforcement, or small business ownership. For years, I’ve felt a strong calling to serve again, and now, with the support of my family and faith, I am answering that call.

Local Roots, Strong Values

I was born and raised in the Flint Hill community of Cleveland County.  My upbringing was grounded in faith, farming and hard work.  As a kid, I attended Flint Hill Baptist Church and today I'm a proud member of Christopher Road Baptist Church.  My family ran cattle operations and built some of the first commercial broiler houses in the area.  Summers were spent in hayfields, building fences or chasing cattle when those fences didn't hold.  That blue-collar work ethic still defines who I am.  I graduated from Crest High School in 1997 where I played on the 1996 State Championship football team and was active in the FFA, trade classes and AP coursework.  I am also an active member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Marine Corps League and DAV.

Service to Country and Community

Inspired by my family’s legacy of military and law enforcement service, I set out to do both—while also earning a college education.  After working full-time in plumbing while attending Cleveland Community College, I transferred to Appalachian State University to major in Criminal Justice.  I also joined the Marine Corps Reserves, and shortly after, the world changed on September 11th.

In 2003, I was deployed to Iraq for the the invasion, serving as a machine gunner with a Combat Service Support Battalion. It was a crash course in sacrifice, fear, and the kind of courage it takes to face hardships head-on. I returned to finish my degree with an internship at the U.S. Marshals Service, then joined the Asheville Police Department.  I later moved back to Cleveland County where I joined the Gastonia Police Department.

Veteran, Entrepreneur, Advocate

In 2016, I returned to my agricultural roots through homesteading, which led to the founding of Broad River Hemp Company after the 2018 Farm Bill.  We grew quickly, employing 20+ people in Cleveland County and Fayetteville, but faced constant regulatory uncertainty and legislative roadblocks.  That experience gave me first-hand insight into how indecision and special interests at the state and federal levels can cripple small business owners.  I learned how NGOs, non-profits, and advocacy groups can often make more meaningful impacts—especially when red tape slows everything else down.

I later found myself in Raleigh working alongside other veterans to help push for SB 711, engaging directly with legislators and committees over the course of two years. It opened my eyes to just how deeply influenced by lobbyists and bureaucrats the legislative process has become.  It truly showed me how disconnected many elected officials are from the average citizen.

Why I'm Running to Represent Our County.

-Truth and transparency in local government.

-Small, efficient government that respects individual rights.

-Fiscal responsibility and common sense regulation.

-Leadership rooted in real-world experience, not political ambition.

I'm not a career politician.  I'm a veteran, retired law enforcement officer, a business owner and a lifelong member of this community.  It's time for a new generation of public servants.  Leaders who know sacrifice, who've walked the walk, and who understand what it means to serve others.  I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming March 3rd Republican Primary.
